The products we manufacture and supply – Soda Ash (Sodium Carbonate), Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Chloride and associated alkaline chemicals - are key raw materials for our customers who use them to produce many essential everyday items. From the manufacture of glass, detergents and biscuits to the production of life-saving dialysis treatments and the purification of drinking water, a huge range of industrial, household and personal care preparations depend upon our products and service.

Brunner Mond is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of Sodium Carbonate and the sole producer in the UK. Our Sodium Bicarbonate plants manufacture a wide range of grades to meet an expanding range of applications including:

• Alkakarb^® for animal feeds;
• Sodakarb^® for the food industry;
• Briskarb^® for flue gas treatment;
• Pharmakarb^® for the pharmaceutical industry

Brunner Mond’s European business is based in the UK and the Netherlands. The Brunner Mond Group also owns the Magadi Soda Company of Kenya and a distribution terminal at Durban, South Africa. Brunner Mond is wholly owned by Tata Chemicals Limited.

Tata Chemicals is the world’s second largest producer of Soda Ash. It is part of the Tata Group of India which has a rapidly expanding presence in Europe through a process of merger and acquisition. Other European companies in the Tata Group include Tetley Tea, Corus and Jaguar/Land Rover.
