Safety & Health

The safety and health of our employees, customers, suppliers, and of the communities around our plants is our highest priority with many initiatives to improve both safety awareness and performance.

We conduct risk assessments to ensure that our products are safe to be handled by our customers and other end-users.

We also join forces with customers, suppliers and other producers in reciprocal projects to promote a focus on product and operational safety.

We are proud of our excellent safety record which has been built up over many years of attention to detail. For example between July 1999 and October 2002 our Magadi Soda operation ran for 3.8 million man hours without any Lost Time Injuries.

We are also an award-winning organisation having received the accolade of 'Best Safety Initiative' in the GLASS Charter Awards run by the British Glass Confederation in 2003 followed by the award for 'Best Health Initiative' in 2004.

A significant part of our revenue and capital expenditure is focused on improving the safety of our operations and initiatives to enhance the safety and health of our employees are regular parts of our training and development programmes.
