Looking Ahead

The Winnington Urban Village is a key part of Vale Royal Borough Council's Draft Local Plan which has recently been subject to public consultation. A Public Inquiry into the Draft Local Plan starts in September 2005 and an Inspector's report is expected early in 2006.

The Winnington Urban Village Consortium - the combination of Taylor Woodrow, Morris Homes and Barratt Homes that is leading the development of the Urban Village site – submitted a new planning application in October 2005 so that it could be considered by the Council as soon as the Inspector's report is available. The new application addresses the points of concern raised by the First Secretary of State in his 2004 decision but is otherwise identical to the application previously approved by the Council.

If the Inspector's report is favourable, and the Council approve the new application, it is anticipated that work would commence on site in the second half of 2006 with the first houses being complete in early 2007. The total Urban Village would then be developed in phases over the following few years.
