In partnership with the owners of other parcels of adjoining land, Brunner Mond plans to transform the derelict industrial site of Wallerscote into a new urban village alongside the River Weaver. Our vision for what will become the Winnington Urban Village includes:
* Creating a new Urban Village development on a 'brownfield' or recycled site
* Up to 1200 homes with places of work, shops and community facilities
* Open spaces and parkland
* Easy and pleasant to walk and cycle around The Urban Village was included as a preferred development site in Vale Royal Borough Council's Local Plan First Review Alteration that was subject to a Public Inquiry from September to December 2005. The independent Inspector's report was published at the beginning of April 2006 and gives full approval to the Winnington Urban Village as an integral part of the development of the Northwich area. The Inspector's Report is binding on the Council who must accept the recommendations made in the Report.
The Winnington Urban Village Consortium has now submitted a new planning application which will be progressed by the Council through the spring and summer of 2006. It is anticipated that this process should lead to work being started on site towards the end of 2006 with the first houses complete in early 2007.
