Tata Chemicals ranked fourth in
top ten Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index in Carbon Disclosure
Project 2010 India 200 Report
October 29, 2010
As a member of the Tata group, Tata Chemicals is committed
to responsible business and as a recognition of
its efforts in this direction, Tata Chemicals has been ranked
fourth in the list of top ten corporates recognised on Carbon
Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) in India, in the Carbon
Disclosure Project 2010 India 200 Report.
The report was released at the Taj Palace, Mumbai, on October
28, 2010, by Suresh Shetty, minister, Government of Maharashtra,
in an event supported by the British High Commission, CII
and WWF.
The Carbon Disclosure Project 2010 India 200 Report is based
on responses to carbon disclosures from 51 leading Indian
corporates, evaluated by Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP),
a not for profit organisation in the UK, acting on behalf
of 534 institutional investors, holding $64 trillion in assets.
The CDLI is a listing of the companies with the most comprehensive
disclosure provided in response to the CDP information request.
Speaking on this recognition, Sanjay Choudhary, chief technology
and sustainability officer, Tata Chemicals, said, This
ranking is a reflection of our efforts and response to the
stakeholder expectations on climate change management with
all our manufacturing sites engaged in energy efficiency,
exploring renewable energy prospects and innovating for low-carbon
products. It reiterates our commitment towards sustainability
and responsible care.
NOTE:
| The carbon disclosure scores assess companies
on the quality and completeness of their disclosure and
consider factors including: |
 |
Clear consideration of business-specific risks and potential
opportunities related to climate change. |
 |
Good internal data management practices for understanding
GHG emissions, including energy use. |
It is important to note that the carbon disclosure score
is not a metric of a companys performance in relation
to climate change management, because the score does not make
any judgment about mitigation actions. A companys disclosure
score is based solely on the information disclosed in the
companys CDP response.
